The Saint Mark’s Basilica was once the doge's private chapel for State ceremonies. It is world-widely famous for the golden Byzantine mosaics and its treasures of art from the East, such as the Golden Altarpiece and the gilded bronze Horses on the loggia. 
The Doge's Palace is the most important museum in Venice. This museum costs Euro 16.00 and will also give you access to other sites.

The Doge’s Palace was once the Republic's seat of power, the palace of justice and the official residence of the doge. Considered the most ambitious expression of Venetian Gothic architecture, it is impressive for the sumptuous display of richness and art. If you are in Venice for the first time, you shouldn't miss this tour.
